The Three Sizes at Mid Mod Style and What Each Is For
We made a deliberate decision to offer exactly three sizes and nothing more. The goal was to eliminate the analysis paralysis that comes with a size menu listing sixteen slightly different options. Three sizes, chosen to cover the full range of residential wall contexts from gallery arrangements to focal-wall statements, is enough.

12×18: Statement Pieces for Small Walls and Gallery Sets
The 12×18 is 12 inches wide and 18 inches tall, roughly the size of a standard hardcover book laid open. At this size, a print is a presence rather than a statement.
This size belongs in specific contexts:
Narrow walls, hallways, and the small surfaces above light switches or beside doorways. Gallery wall compositions, where the 12×18 sits alongside one or two other prints rather than standing alone. Above shelves, desks, and small consoles, where the art is one element of a layered surface rather than the wall’s primary occupant. Small rooms and tight spaces where a larger print would overwhelm.
If you are building a gallery wall arrangement, the 12×18 is the size you use for secondary prints flanking a central 18×24 or 24×36. It is also the size to consider if you want to start with one print and add more over time: a 12×18 is easy to incorporate into a larger arrangement later.

18×24: The Most Versatile Size
If you are uncertain which size to order and your wall is a standard residential wall, between 36 and 60 inches wide, order the 18×24. This is not a compromise choice. The 18×24 is the size that works in the most contexts in the most rooms, which is why it is the size we recommend most often.
At 18 inches wide and 24 inches tall, the print has enough presence to read from across a medium-sized room and enough scale to feel intentional on a wall. It is the right size for primary walls in bedrooms, dining rooms, and small living rooms. It works well above a console, dresser, or sideboard. It is the right choice for secondary walls in larger living rooms and for single-print placements in rooms where a 24×36 would feel aggressive.
The 18×24 also photographs well, which matters if you are placing art where it will appear in the background of photos or video calls.
24×36: Large Format Prints for Focal Walls and Above the Sofa
The 24×36 is our largest size, and it is the right choice whenever you need the art to carry the wall rather than decorate it.
This is the size for primary living room walls, particularly above a sofa where the 24-inch width is the minimum for a single-print placement on a standard sofa. It is right for the primary bedroom wall, centered above the bed on a queen or king. It belongs in open-plan spaces and rooms with high ceilings where a smaller print would disappear. Use the 24×36 any time the art is the room’s primary visual statement.
At 24 inches wide and 36 inches tall, the 24×36 is a piece that commands attention. Position it on the wall where you want the eye to go first, and give it a few inches of breathing room on all sides before the next piece of furniture or architectural element begins.
Note: in a small room under 150 square feet, a 24×36 in a bold Black Ink composition can feel overwhelming. In a small room, the 18×24 is usually the right call.
How to Measure Your Wall Before You Buy
The most reliable approach to sizing: measure before you order.
Step one: measure the width of the furniture piece the art will hang above, sofa, bed, console, dresser. Multiply that width by 0.60 to get the lower end of the correct art width, and by 0.75 to get the upper end. For an 84-inch sofa, the art should be between 50 and 63 inches wide. A single 24×36 print at 24 inches is narrower than this range, so you would want a multi-print arrangement.
Step two: measure the wall height above the furniture. Art should hang with its center at eye level, approximately 57 to 60 inches from the floor, or 6 to 8 inches above the furniture’s top edge when hanging above a piece.
Step three: tape an outline of your intended print size on the wall using painter’s tape. Step back and look at it in the room. This takes three minutes and eliminates most sizing regrets.
Size by Room: Quick Reference
Living room above sofa: 24×36 single, or two 18×24 prints side by side. For a sofa over 80 inches, three 18×24 prints in a row is a strong arrangement.
Bedroom above queen or king bed: 24×36 centered, or two 18×24 prints as a pair.
Bedroom above twin or full bed: 18×24 centered.
Dining room: 18×24 centered above a four-seat table, 24×36 for a six-seat table or larger.
Home office above desk: 18×24 for a standard desk, 24×36 for a large L-shaped desk or behind-chair placement.
Hallway: 12×18 or 18×24 depending on hallway width. A 12×18 works for hallways under 36 inches wide.
Gallery wall: Start with one 18×24 as the anchor, add 12×18 prints around it. A mix of 18×24 and 12×18 in a grid is the easiest arrangement to get right.
